Color guard is something the fuck else. Words cannot do justice to the props you guys deserve.
Gotta love the Phantomettes
Here’s to the kids who give up half of their summer to stand out in the sun and complain, yet do it every day like clockwork. Here’s to the kids who, despite not having had a water break in the last 30 minutes and being worked to no end in 100 degree weather, still give it their all. Here’s to the kids who spend hours with a metronome ticking continuously, and even more hours with an instrument taking their last breath. Here’s to the kids who come weeks early to learn how to jazz walk and spin a flag. Here’s to the kids who wear the funny-looking feather on their head, just because they love what they do. Here’s to the kids who wake up at 3 am on a Saturday, and don’t get home ‘til 2 am on a Sunday, for a contest. Here’s to the kids who know what tireless dedication and loyalty is. Here’s to the kids who know what it means to have unconditional love for a family that will always have your back, despite not sharing blood. Here’s to the kids who, despite all the pain, sweat and tears, wouldn’t trade it for the world. Here’s to the kids in marching band and color guard. I hope you all have a wonderful season. It’s not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle.
